What Makes a Good Day?
Key Takeaway
Small joys accumulate — and consistently creating them shapes a more meaningful, satisfying life.
Transcript
Ok, so today we’re going to focus on the small picture—the moments that make up your day—this, after all, is where your life actually happens. Small tweaks here can create surprisingly big shifts in how you feel.
So let’s look at your day-to-day experience - what makes it feel good?
Take a piece of paper—or open your notes—and list 5 things that make a day feel genuinely good. They may be tiny, like being able to appreciate your morning coffee without feeling rushed, they actually probably will be tiny - but they count! Write a few of them here:
Here are a few ideas.
Time to read
Cooking dinner
Mid-morning sunlight
Laughing with a friend
Listening to music
Wearing clothes you love
A slow cup of coffee
Moving your body
Going to bed early
Walking in the city
Watching the sky change colors
Ok, now the next step is to look at your list and choose one that you will be a bit more deliberate about this week.
For instance, I used to walk briskly from my house to catch the train - it took about 10 minutes. One day, I gave myself two extra minutes. That one shift changed how I started every day. I noticed the sky, the little stream I would walk across… Two extra minutes had a disproportionate amount of power on the fabric of my days.
