You Are Not Broken
Key Takeaway
Self-compassion grows when we understand our wiring. Self-mastery grows when we design wisely for it.
Transcript
Your brain is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
The problem is, the world it was designed for no longer exists.
It makes sense that you feel overstimulated in loud, crowded spaces.
It makes sense that long Zoom calls feel draining.
It makes sense that one part of you craves a lovely dessert, even when another part doesn’t want it.
These aren’t character flaws. They’re signs of a brain reacting naturally—in an unnatural world.
That insight alone is huge!
You don’t need to become a different person. You just need to work with the brain you already have.
And when you do, life may begin to feel a little more aligned.
But importantly, this isn’t done through willpower—but through design.
Reflection
What part of the Riverbank or System 1/System 2 ideas helped you most? How might you honor your brain’s design a little more this week?
