Progress, Not Perfection

Key Takeaway

Happiness is not all-or-nothing. It’s about small, cumulative shifts — just like getting stronger physically.

Transcript

So yesterday I suggested writing the equation down on a post-it — because consistent, simple reminders are powerful. Today, I want to end this first module with a very important message: This is a gradual process. When we talk about happiness, we often think of it as an "all or nothing" thing — like, "Am I happy?" But happiness is a continuum. •Within a given day, we fluctuate. Over the course of life, we fluctuate. This course isn’t about becoming "happy" and achieving some ideal life. It’s about becoming happier — living more intentionally — feeling a little lighter, a little more grounded, a little more often. Happiness is complex. Life is complex. But we do have some degree of influence — and that's incredibly important. And I’m really glad you’re here for the ride. To wrap up: This is like getting in shape physically. It’s both incremental and cumulative. If you’ve even slightly shifted your awareness this week — noticed your perspective, paid attention to your environment, caught a misaligned expectation — that’s real progress. That’s like 20 push-ups for your mind. So, cheers to you.

Reflection

A single moment of noticing is meaningful progress. Reflection Prompt: What’s one small thing you noticed or learned this week that you weren’t aware of before? Tiny steps, taken often, lead to profound change.
