Before you dive in, I thought I would share five top tips to help you get the most from taking part in this 21-Day Practices Challenge. 1) Firstly, whilst I’ve got the themes in an order that I think works for people, it’s totally up to you how you go through this. As you’ll realise with the app, you can go into the first theme or the second or third theme first. Basically, you can do it in whatever order you like. You may look at the list of modules and think, “Pro Social really appeals to me. I’m going to start with that,” or “Movement that Feels Good responds most to my needs right now.” However what I would say is try to focus on watching/reading the content from one theme at a time, otherwise you’re going to become overwhelmed. 2) The second point is to think about your capacity and where your head is at... how much mental and emotional capacity you have right now. Depending on this, as mentioned, if you are busy or feeling overwhelmed, you may want to focus on a theme, and just pick one practice to do repeatedly for a few days, then move to the second theme and again, just add one practice from that. If you have the time and space to lean in a little more, you may want to try out more practices from each theme and then when you move to the next theme, you may want to keep your favorite from the first theme in place and then add another one from the second theme. So again, total flexibility. There’s nothing about aiming for perfection here. It’s all about doing it in a way that works for you. Remember, the way you approach this program can support your wellbeing. 3) Thirdly, we’ve got videos, but I’ve also included detail in the transcript, as you will know if you are reading this. In most cases, the written piece I’ve provided isn’t just a transcript of the video – it may include more on the science behind the theme or the practice I’m offering, so do delve into that if you want more detail. There is a ‘Transcript’ tab on each of the lessons, which is where you will find this. 4) Fourth, to help embed this and process as much as possible, why not keep a little journal or make notes in the ‘notes’ tab within the program? Reflect on things at the end of the day and/or share with others how it’s going. Talk about your experience with it. This is another way to really embed what you’re doing and process it. Writing helps us process things in a different way, and that can be really beneficial, as can articulating our experience in words as we share it with others. You may even want to invite somebody to do it with you. When I’ve run this for groups in the past this has been a popular approach. Inviting a friend to do it alongside you can increase your sense of motivation, accountability and of course, enjoyment. 5) And fifth, feel free to use the discussion section. Pop any questions in there and I’ll get back to you. However, I would say unless you’re just adding words of support or offering ideas (if people ask), it’s best to avoid commenting on other people’s comments. I’ll respond to everyone who comments with a question - I don’t want you to have any questions left unanswered. Enjoy!
